Asokore Hospital
In the Ashante region - near Kumasi
Language: Twi
Located in a region that is one of Africa's matrilineal societies; line of descent is traced through the female.
Website- none that I could find!


Daboase Hospital
Most remote facility that I will be traveling to. Not much information on this one yet, I'm sure it will be quite an experience though- especially looking at the "modern & advanced" operating rooms at the main hospital (Korle Bu)!!

Well, I'm in my final stages of packing and spazzing out as I have only 1more day before I leave on the mission. So far the experience has been somewhat crazy as the Ghana Embassy and the other group we are going with from Sinai Hospital (Neuro-Spine Research Organization)are not that well organized- thank goodness I am heading the organization for the Hopkins team!! As anyone who really knows me can tell you, I am more than hyper when it comes to planning trips (binder anyone?) so this aspect has frustrated me a little! From what I hear, this is pretty typical for Ghana so I should expect a slower, less organized way of life and work when I get over there - should be interesting!!

I will be in 3 different areas, which I have tried to point out on the map included. Below is a little more detail of the locations.

The Three hospitals:
1. Accra is the capital of Ghana. Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is the major hospital.
2. Asokore Hospital, near Kumasi (the city you’ll find on the map)
3. Daboase Hospital, the most remote facility.
